keepalive Frequency (in seconds) with which the Cisco IOS software sends keepalive messages to its peer. The default is 60 seconds. holdtime Interval (in seconds) after not receiving a keepalive message that the software declares a peer dead. The default is 180 seconds.
To adjust BGP network timers, use the timers bgp command in router configuration mode. To reset the BGP timing defaults, use the no form of this command.
keepalive: 60 seconds
holdtime: 180 seconds
The following example changes the keepalive timer to 70 seconds and the hold-time timer to 210 seconds:Router(config-router)#timers bgp 70 210
