Syntax:

neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} shutdown

no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} shutdown

 

Syntax Description:

ip-address

Neighbor's IP address

peer-group-name

Name of a BGP peer group


Command Description:

To disable a neighbor or peer group, use the neighbor shutdown router configuration command. To reenable the neighbor or peer group, use the no form of this command.


Example:

The following example disables any active session for the neighbor 171.34.23.22:

 

Router(config-router)#neighbor 171.34.23.22 shutdown

 

The following example disables all peering sessions for the peer group named internal:

Routere(config-router)#neighbor internal shutdown
