You can specify up to 16 privilege levels, using numbers 0 through 15. Level 1 is normal EXEC-mode user privileges. If this argument is not specified, the privilege level defaults to level 15 (traditional enable privileges).
To enter privileged EXEC mode, use the enable EXEC command. Since many of the privileged commands set operating parameters, privileged access should be password-protected to prevent unauthorized use. If the system administrator has set a password with the enable password global configuration command, a prompt to enter the password will appear before being allowed access to privileged EXEC mode. If an enable password has not been set, enable mode can only be accessed from the router console. If a level is not specified, it defaults to the privileged EXEC mode, which is level 15.
The following command will enter the privilege exec mode from the user exec mode:
